The Event

A pro beach volleyball tournament in the heart of Vancouver on world famous Kitsilano Beach. July 15-17, 2016.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2016, the Vancouver Open Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament is a three day event run by Volleyball BC and featuring the best pro beach volleyball players from Canada, North America, and destinations worldwide. The event takes place at famous Kits Beach in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia and offers the largest pro beach volleyball purse in Canada with $15,000 in prize money.


The event attracts over 20,000 spectators each year and offers activities for all ages including a youth volleyball tournament, prize giveaways, interactive crowd activities, food and beverages, and some of the best beach volleyball action in North America. The Vancouver Open is free to attend and draws visitors from all over Canada and North America. The event will also have live streaming coverage of the semi-finals and finals on Sunday. Event updates will be posted on the Volleyball BC Facebook and Twitter pages throughout the tournament.

Information for Players and Coaches: Registration, Seeding, Meetings & Rules

The Vancouver Open is a 3 day, 64 team, 2 player per team, beach volleyball tournament featuring the best volleyball players from around the world. The event takes place at famous Kits Beach in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. The top 28 teams per gender qualify for the Main Draw by FIVB results, VBC points and Wild Card selections. For the remaining 4 open slots per gender a qualifier is held on the Friday of the event weekend where up to 40 teams will compete for the final tournament slots. The 14U and 16U Youth Divisions run with a very similar format. See the Youth section below for more details.

Youth Open

A big time tournament for young players, right next to the pros. The Youth Van Open, July 15th & 17th, 2016

While the tournament purse is reserved for the pro open players, Volleyball BC holds the Youth Open each year so youth players under the age of 16 can compete and get a taste of the big time action at Kits Beach. The Youth Main Draw is a one day tournament that will take place on Sunday July 17th, 2016 from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The Youth Qualifier will take place on Friday July 15th, 2016 (times TBA).

14U Girls – 16 teams (Top 12 teams + 4 from the Qualifier)
14U Boys – 8 teams (Top 6 teams + 2 from the Qualifier)
16U Girls – 16 teams (Top 12 teams + 4 from the Qualifier)
16U Boys – 8 teams (Top 6 teams + 2 from the Qualifier)



With 16 beach volleyball courts, DJ's, and stands full of cheering fans it's kind of hard to miss, but just in case...

The event is located at Kits Beach, easily accessible from Vancouver and other cities in the lower mainland.
